Project Overview
Mr. & Mrs. Butler came to us with very specific requirements for their new kitchen. Having recently downsized from a large 5-bedroom house to a 3-bedroom cottage, they wanted a bespoke, solid wooden kitchen that would offer ample storage while maintaining the charm of their new home. The couple provided us with a wealth of drawings and design ideas, which we worked through with our designers to finalize the perfect layout.
The Design
In-frame shaker style:
The kitchen was designed in a traditional in-frame shaker style, offering a timeless aesthetic with clean lines and elegant proportions.
Two-tone finish:
The kitchen featured a two-tone color scheme, blending classic colors to create a striking visual contrast that suited their cottage-style home.
Bespoke cabinetry:
Every cabinet was custom-made to fit the space and purpose, ensuring a perfect fit and maximizing storage capacity.
High-end appliances:
The kitchen was fitted with high-end appliances, complementing the craftsmanship of the handmade solid wood units and adding extra value to the space.
Solid wood construction:
The cabinetry was built using traditional joinery techniques, including dovetailed joints and tongue-and-groove bases and backs, ensuring both durability and style.
The Result
Striking and functional design:
The finished kitchen is both striking and functional, with modern appliances integrated into the layout while maintaining the traditional, handcrafted appeal of a solid wood kitchen.
Maximized storage:
Despite the smaller size of the cottage, the kitchen offers ample storage for all of Mr. & Mrs. Butler’s needs, including designated spaces for utensils, food, and small appliances. Every item has its place, making the kitchen both practical and organized.
Perfect for downsizing:
The design allowed the couple to downsize without sacrificing storage or quality. The bespoke units ensured that the kitchen was optimized for their new living space while providing a welcoming and efficient cooking environment.
